Karibu Afrika Kenya

About Us

We are a registered international Public Benefit Organization (PBO) providing support to children all around Kenya.

16 Years in Action

Aiming to develop Africa from the grassroots, through promotion of: sports, education and inter-culture. It all started way back in 2004 where European particularly, Italian students got attachments or internships in local community projects in what was referred as ‘Study Africa in Africa (SAIA). The interest grew and created the need to form an organization to support not only in the organization of the activity but also development of the local organizations mostly CBOs operating mostly in the disadvantaged contexts such as slum communities. The SAIA later transformed into a social tourism program dubbed Bianco-Nero (Black-White) where interested persons have the opportunity not only to visit game parks but mingle with communities.

Currently operating in the counties of Nairobi and Kisumu, KAK implements activities in the slums of Mathare and Manyatta respectively. Our sports projects include: Basketball, Football and Rugby (most recent), with open intentions of promoting more sports and games both outdoor and indoor. Focussing on the child and youth development, KAK uses the aggregative and educational potential of sport like a strong key component to keep committed and easily involve the children, contribute to their physical and psychological health as well as social inclusion.

Especially in the disadvantaged context, such as slum communities.  Inconsiderate of the past, more than 500 children and, over 100 youths below 30 years old (both genders) directly benefit from free trainings, life skills education and competitive engagements. Furthermore, KAK runs a school-based program that combines sports and life-skills education in more than 15 basic learning institutions within the slums targeting more than 2000 within the next period of one year.

KAK consider Education a principle key factor not only for effective development of sports but also community change. In this case KAK collaborates closely with Whynot Academy a private community school based in Mathare slums in Nairobi and Manyatta primary a public junior school in Kisumu among others, in the promotion of education activities in terms of infrastructural and material support. Both institutions not only act as our operating bases but also host Organization headquarter and regional offices respectively. Particularly the Whynot School has worked in partnership with KAK and its founders for close to 2 decades.

Slum Soccer Project: We Successfully Played in the Altri-Mondiali Cup

Slumsoccer Project, launched in 2006, began with football tournaments organized between local youth groups, CBOs, and Italian students on a cultural exchange program called “Study Africa in Africa (SAIA)” in Nairobi’s slums and later in Kisumu.

During these events, participating clubs received sports equipment and supplies from Italian students, fostering enthusiasm within the communities. In 2009, the project was formalized under KAK, leading to the “Altri-Mondiali” (Another World) Cup, a road journey to the 2010 South Africa World Cup.

Since then, it has focused on youth development, offering annual training for 15-20 young soccer coaches and players in football and life skills in Nairobi and Kisumu counties.
